Mitra Zolfaghari is a News Producer at WIS-TV News 10 in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a 2014 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism. She is a hard-working, reliable journalist with a passion for broadcast news. Her journey and love of writing and reporting started in high school- where she was a proud member of her high school's newspaper and TV staff.
During Mitra's college career, she learned the ethics and skills needed to adequately report and produce television news. Previously, she interned at WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Md., as a multimedia/web production intern, at CBS-3 Eyewitness News in Philadelphia as a news & sports intern and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics in the heart of University Park, Pa, as a production intern. Mitra knows how to write, report, shoot footage and edit stories. She is known best for her creativity, attention to detail and her talent in production. Mitra's sports production experiences have taken her to sporting events such as the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club, Philadelphia Eagles practices and Philadelphia Phillies games where she produced content shown on television. In addition to production, Mitra also excels in social media, where she keeps her followers up to date on the latest happenings in the U.S. and beyond.
Mitra believes her College of Communications classes prepared her for a career in broadcast and print journalism. Her love for law and ethics as it relates to journalism has made her want to continue her schooling and eventually graduate with a masters degree while having a job. She has been challenged through deadlines and believes that time, coupled with law and ethics, are some of the most important factors in the field of journalism. Mitra believes that memorable stories outline the truth. She hopes to emphasize the significance of law and ethics in her career. Mitra is never satisfied with the minimum- she is always excited and motivated to work hard to achieve the most possible in the career she is most passionate about. In addition to Mitra's journalistic talent, she is fluent in French and Farsi- adding to her resume the cultures of these two languages.
Her love for life and warm personality shine through when she is working a job she loves. She loves to meet new people who share the same appreciation for life as she does.
